The small floor/cadenza cabinet in the dash had seen better days and times. It was split, stained and unattractive. This is a simple project to refinish the cabinet and update the trim to match the rest of the motor home.
2020-04-19, Salon Hardwood Replacement Part 2/2
This is part 2 of 2, replacing the Salon Carpet with hardwood. This section shows the additional work to replace the carpeting and install hardwood at the front of the salon and the driver, passenger and entrance area with rubber mat.
2020-04-05, Salesman Solenoid Upgrade
My original house system solenoid drew a current of 3 amps when turned on by the salesman switch at the front entrance. This older style solenoid used current to hold in a continuous duty spring loaded contact to bridge power from the house batteries to the 12v house system. This added a power draw to the house batteries depleting the available power to little to no use. The original solenoid was upgraded to a zero draw when on Intellitec Battery Isolation Solenoid. The project below shows the details of changing the salesman switch and house solenoid to the new system. The manuals are included below. The links may die over time but a search on the net should find all the relevant materials should that happen.
20-03-22, Salon hardwood Replacement for Carpet
This is part 1 of 2 of the project to replace the original carpet in a Safari Continental 2000. The salon area is largely complete and waiting on a router bit for the final install. The drivers and passenger areas are begun and will be a hard rubber/foam walk way between the seats up to the hardwood and around the drivers area.
2020-03-15, Inverter-Charger Upgrade
The older 2kw Xantrex Inverter-Charger was replaced with a 3kw Inverter-Charger. The new system has solar panel input and automatic generator start. This project shows a new and different mounting method for the inverter and cabling. Also an additional fan was added that is controlled by a set point controller that reduces the inverter temperature when the temperature exceeds the set point. The controller has a temperature probe to monitor the interior of the inverter for temperature. The link to the presentation includes the manual.
2020-03-01 Surround sound upgrade from Bose System
The Bose system was exceptional in its day. The system in my coach over time the had developed problems and additionally an RV dealer had cannibalized the connection head that routed the devices in the system, therefore it was time to be changed out. This project shows some simple issues that I found and discusses the costs of the equipment. This is a very simple and relatively inexpensive project that gains a great deal of additional functionality over the original system.
2020-02-23, Replacing the battery isolator with a boost solenoid
This project shows how to replace the battery isolator with a continuous duty solenoid. This removes an electronic diode system (the isolator) and uses the existing boost solenoid in its place. In the event of failure of the alternator the generator can be run to supply power to the chassis batteries. (this can also be done with the isolator). This project also describes replacing the echo charger with a battery tender.
Expanding kitchen Storage
We needed to have a place to store some of the essential kitchen tools my wife cooked with the InstaPot, and an Air Fryer. These are can replace most of the cooking in the the kitchen by them selves, but they are large and there was no space in the kitchen to store them so I expanded the area under the sink. This presentation is how to add a lot of storage in an area that is currently only used for plumbing and the trash container.
2020-02-03, Passenger Tray Cup Holder Changes
The tray along the side of the seat that covered the box on the passenger side had seen better days and times, plus the cup holder was not deep enough to hold a standard Starbucks cup. Motion while driving could pitch the cup over the edge onto the floor. The tray was also cracked at the front and the finish deteriorated. This is a simple project to modify the cup holder, repair and refinish the tray.
2020-01-26, Salon Dinning Light Conversion to LED
The salon light over the dinning table was a 120v fluorescent light and had stopped working at some time past. This presentation shows the conversion from a 120v fluorescent system to a 120v LED bulb system. The standard 120v LED bulbs are inexpensive, can be dimmed if a control is added and are found everywhere. Whereas the TU58 fluorescent style lights use more power, are becoming obsolete and difficult to source. This is a very quick project that can be completed in under 2 hours.
