2019-10-02, update for correction & Email addresses

Additional information has been added to the presentation – EchoCharger and House Solenoid Replacement. This is in the description and expands on a key detail left out of the presentation. It would be too much work to redo the presentation to include this information, so it is in the description.

Regarding emails: There is no requirement to create a login and email account. The only function the login serves is to allow an email account to be added to the server database and then only for the purpose of automatic email announcements when a new posting is ready. Normally there will be no emails unless a new topic has been added to the site. I realize that some sites then use the emails to send out unsolicited and unrelated emails. Not so with this site. There is no mailing list maintained for any purpose other than to announce a change that might be of interest. If you have an invalid email then you will not get the announcement, which means that if it was purposely invalid then the account serves no purpose. Therefore I would suggest that if anyone wants to be notified and you are not being notified, you may want to correct the email address to receive the announcements. But again, this is not a requirement… just a heads up. Thank you.

2019-10-02, Upgrading the House Solenoid and Echo Charger

A presentation has been added that shows the components of the engine firewall containing the solenoids, isolator and echo charger. The house solenoid was changed out for a more efficient solenoid, and the failed echo charger was changed to a battery tender. This shows the reasoning behind the changes and explains the several electrical component functions.

2019-09-30, Engine Trouble Light

This is a simple way to add a permanent trouble shooting light to the Engine bay under the bed. I found that when I most needed a light in the engine bay during times of problems, the standard LED lights and flash lights did not work well. These lights were constantly falling over, or falling under the coach or shining in my eyes. I needed something fixed but movable in a time of possible emergency or just basic work so I added the LED lighting system in this presentation. There are two LED lights, one mounted to the bed that turns on when the bed is lifted, the other is also LED but has a 120v plug-in and can be moved to any location desired

addendum – washer

The presentation on the washer dryer modification has been updated to address the concerns and comments and to clarify the terminology. There is an annotated picture at the end of the updated presentation. This post will appear only to those subscribed to this site just for times sake. Carling Switch to LED

This is a method to change the Carling switches from incandescent to LED lighting. This part details removing and disassembling the Carling switch and changing the incandescent bulb to LED, although it is exactly the same procedure to simply replace a defective incandescent bulb with a working bulb.

2019-09-02, Addendums to presentations

I believe an effective way to improve this site is by including others peoples responses, insights and suggests to my presentations.

All of the work I have done on my 2000 Safari Continental has been with the assistance of others that have had more extensive experience than I with problems I tried to address. The purpose of the web site is partly a diary but mostly a source of information to help others that find themselves in similar situations and need more than just an opinion. I have more than a small amount of resentment towards the people that have worked on this coach and other RV’s I have owned. We had a new 2001 Discovery DP, and before that a 2000 Jayco Designer 5th wheel. I have years of first hand knowledge of the avaricious predatory nature of RV dealers and their team of incompetent low paid staff . One of my goals is to provide enough awareness to either do the work yourself or know exactly what is involved and the final results to expect if you have someone else do this work.

I post what I have learned often from others and the methods I use are not necessarily the best, they are the best that I knew to do at the time. But others with more experience may see those issues I have missed. I will post as an addendum these emails and I will add my further insights and clarifications. The intent is not to be right… but complete. To that end I will update all the presentations as they are corrected or further insights are gained.

As time permits I will go back over the existing presentations and include others technical comments.
