The original cabinetry drawer guides had become severely worn on several cabinets and were causing a problem opening and closing the drawers. As well, a number of the drawers had hardware that was broken and falling apart and there was no easy way to replace the parts. So the all the original drawer guides throughout the coach were replaced with heavier metal ball bearing soft close drawer guides. This did add about 40lbs of weight over the older drawer extension guides but it was worth the cost in money, time and weight in the final analysis in my opinion. This project goes through the selection process and installation of the new guides.

2022-01-29, Camera Systems -backup and front facing Cameras – Part 2
After using the backup camera on a trip it was obvious that some improvements that were essential. The night vision did not work because the camera infrared LEDs were reflecting off the plexiglass rear view port as well as also reducing the clarity of the image. This project replaces the original internally mounted camera with an externally mounted camera. The first camera was reused as a front facing camera.

2021-09-03, Vented Dryer Update
The dimensions of the dryer have been added to the dryer project at the end of the page. The dryer was bought on Amazon.com (it is not on Amazon.ca) and is called an Euhomy 2.6 dryer.
2021-11-02, Vented Dryer Installation
This project adds a 110v vented dryer above the existing Splendide wash/dryer. The dryer portion of the Splendide did not work as well we wanted, leaving the clothes damp and in a clump. The dryer chosen has a vent that was simple to run through the ceiling and also had front cleaning lint traps. Many dryers have rear lint traps and there is no access in the closet for the rear. This dryer fits easily into the wardrobe above the existing washer. An additional fan for heat flow was added and is controlled by an inexpensive setpoint controller from ebay.
20211-10-24, Residential Fridge Replacement
This is a project to replace the Norcold 1200 double door propane fridge with a Haier residential fridge in a 2000 Safari Continental motorhome. The Haier is 71″ by 28″, 15 cu. ft. and high efficiency rated.
2021-08-29, Replacing the Center (HEADBANGER)Cabinet
The center front cabinet on my 2000 Safari Continental was made for a tube style TV and was a constant source of head injuries when not paid attention to, which was too often. The cabinet was no longer needed to house the old style TV or even the LCD monitor. Therefore the monitor design was changed as well as the mounting system. This project shows the simple modifications to reduce in size but retain the original cabinet.
2021-08-22, Map Console
This project replaces the vinyl console on the passenger entrance that held the switches for the forward salon lights, the porch lights, the salesman switch (switch for enabling the 12v interior lights) and the Kwikee Step switch. The original console had a cup holder and two interior boxes for storage. The storage was not that particularly useful for our needs so the console was replaced with a new system that holds the switches and has a map compartment for the Truckers Atlas from Rand McNally and also a second compartment for the smaller 11″ foldable road maps and also has the coffee holder but with a deeper recess to prevent bumps tipping the cup over.
