AIR IN THE FUEL SYSTEM – Diagnosis and Troubleshooting – Part 1/3

This project details the steps used to determine why air was getting into the fuel system on 2000 Safari Continental with a CAT 3126B engine. The techniques are applicable to other diesel engines. Air was causing the engine to falter and run rough when it would start, which often it would not. These problems were uncovered after making changes to the fuel system that increased the vacuum on the fuel input line which in turn showed that the line had seriously deteriorated.
