This shows how to add a variable speed control to a power take up reel. This modification was done on the Cable Caddy Power Reel system, but this will work on any DC drive (12v) motor. The connection is very simple and the cost is under $10. But is solves the problem of the motor running at excessive speed and trying to feed and guide the cable during wind up.
