2020-07-07, Racor Fuel System – Addendum

A presentation addendum on the Racor Fuel system upgrade has been created. The presentation shows an original Win 200200 fuel filter with the fuel entering the bowl. Why this is important is that there is substantial leakage on the fuel bowl system that has reduced the fuel flow through the injectors. The fuel injectors are cooled by the diesel fuel, not all the fuel is burnt that flows through the filter, the largest part is used to cool the injectors and then returned to the fuel tank. There is an explanation based on conversations with the CAT Tech support person and documentation files that can be uploaded. The link follows.

2020-07-03 Website Restructuring

[I apologize if this is a repeat post, but there was a problem with the web design mail delivery system and this post may have not been sent to the subscribed users so it is being resubmitted.]

The presentations on the website have been regrouped under a simpler structure and menu system. The original system represented the types of problems, that is repairs and upgrades by category. That structure represented more of the engineering approach to the problems as they were being solved and in hindsight overly complicated the information being presented. I think that most people are interested in the solution of the problem not the historical structure.

To that end the site is now restructured under just 5 categories.

(1) Interior: dealing with cabinetry, lighting, flooring and so forth.

(2) Exterior: Kwikee steps and issues on the body and exterior of the coach.

(3) Electrical: Solenoid modifications for the heavy amperage circuits, Lighting conversions to LEDs, Hurrican Heater (this is also plumbing but all the work was on correcting the control system to date), Electronics like the sound system and so on.

(4) Mechanical: The Air system, Racor Fuel system, Battery tray, Generator and so forth.

(5) Misc: This is not directly related to the RV but some people may find some of these helps useful as they relate to computer systems and software that I use.

As time permits I will go over the presentations and improve the videos. I can see that some pictures are too small in the window and others could be improved in annotation and so on. If you have any comments let me know and I will try to include your ideas or do these presentations.

There are several more presentations to cover the work done so if there is an interest I will do this as time and opportunity present themselves.

Thank you.

Heavy Duty Solenoids

The boost solenoid and 12v house solenoid are large amperage devices and can cause a lot of problems when they go wrong. Also the charging system uses a diode isolator to allow the alternator to charge the house and chassis batteries at the same time while maintaining electrical separation. This isolator is also a cause for problems when it fails. Projects were done to redesign both of these systems for lower current draw when on (for the house solenoid) and to remove the need for an isolator diode system. This is broken out to make it easier for people to find the information.

2020-06-16, Racor System upgrade, part 2, Video of System Running – correction

This is a correction to the second part of the Racor Fuel System Upgrade. I happened to note a posting related to the older Winn-2000/Racor filter system leaking air and when I went back to my posts on the Racor Upgrade I discovered that the second portion which was a major explanation of the installation and also the video of the new system running was damaged and not accessible. I have rebuilt and reloaded part 2 of the presentation for those that may have an interest.

2020-06-14, Salon Pocket Door and Bathroom Lock Repair

This is a simple project to remove the pocket doors to re-glue the delaminated wall paper between the fridge and shower bathroom area. This shows the method to remove the door, re-glue the wall paper. Included is a method to fix the worn lock on the toilette area. This lock is a boat style and had worn over time.

2020-06-06, SHower, bathroom Update

The shower bathroom vanity area had a foam backed vinyl ceiling. Extensive leaks had caused water damage to the ceiling under the vinyl covering. Although the leaks had been repaired and the damage was largely unnoticeable I wanted to repair and change this area. This project shows the steps to change out the ceiling vinyl to red oak tongue and groove hardwood. The steps to remove the shower glass is also documented step by step.
