This is the first part of a multipart presentation on the project to add 5 video cameras for driving and security. The system is built from inexpensive components combined with free software for driving and surveillance. This part deals with the basics of the WIFI system components, setup, and selection of the 1st camera which is the backup camera and its installation. Future presentations will deal with the front display and cabinet modifications and finally the installation of the remaining cameras.
On a side note that was not covered in the presentation, there is a problem with the night vision function. This is not an issue with the camera but rather the original lens over the camera port. To use the night vision LEDs in the camera a non reflective glass panel will have to replace the current plastic plate. The current plate is reflecting the light back into the camera rather then projecting the light externally. An solution will be found and posted in a subsequent part. This is not serious but will need a work around to give a proper night time surveillance system.
