Almost all of my gas struts holding the bay doors open have failed and fall down. Replacing them was easy, if cost were not a problem. But given that the cost was in the hundreds of dollars I used less expensive modification. The presentation shows how to retain the strut function and hold the door open safely with very little cost and work. It can be done per door in minutes.
I found one further simple improvement to this system. Pull the plastic strut tube to the top of the strut and then add a second tight zip tie to the bottom of the tube. This keeps the tube from opening and going down a bit over the strut holding pin. The tube will never go more than an inch or two, but it us better with the extra zip tie.
